HWY 36 BRIDGE UPDATE – OFFICIAL DETOUR CLARIFICATION

HWY 36 BRIDGE UPDATE – OFFICIAL DETOUR CLARIFICATION

We’ve now received and reviewed the official detour plan related to the Hwy 36 bridge closure, and it’s important to clear up some confusion we’re seeing in the community.

👉 Horse Shoe Island Road is NOT the official detour route.

According to the official traffic control and detour plan, all detour traffic is directed to use:

 • Hwy 3241

 • Hwy 435

These routes are designed to handle overall traffic flow, including large trucks, and are the only posted detour routes for this closure.

While officials acknowledge that some drivers may still attempt to use Horse Shoe Island Road, it is not intended to carry detour-level traffic. The expectation is that drivers follow the posted routes on Hwy 3241 and Hwy 435.

Because of continued confusion and firsthand observations of drivers ignoring current signage, we have requested that closure signs be moved to a location between Hwy 3241 and Horse Shoe Island Road. This adjustment would help reinforce the official detour and prevent vehicles from continuing down Horse Shoe Island Road unnecessarily.

Our goal is simple:

✔️ Keep traffic flowing safely

✔️ Reduce unnecessary congestion on neighborhood roads

✔️ Make sure everyone clearly understands the official detour

Support note (totally optional):

We are officially monetized through Facebook Stars, and support there is always appreciated. That said, for transparency, Facebook keeps a significant portion of Stars. If you want to support what I’m doing here in the most direct way, the best option is to visit AroundPearlRiver.com and click ❤️ Support Local News. That opens a secure Stripe page, where the processing fee is around 4%, meaning more of your support stays local.

Again — completely optional. I’m not begging. But the faster I can reduce how much I have to work full-time elsewhere, the faster and better I can serve you and our community.

We’ll continue sharing verified updates as we receive them. Thank you to everyone who has been patient and to those who’ve helped by reporting what they’re seeing on the ground.
